Postdoctoral position: Environmental changes and long-term dynamics of infection in wild animal populations
A postdoctoral position is available to study the effect of climate change and habitat structure on parasite survival and transmission in wild animal populations. This appointment is in the Center for Infectious Disease Dynamics, which promotes a collaborative, interdisciplinary research environment for the study of disease dynamics at molecular to population levels.
Research will be conducted as part of an ongoing long term international project on parasite community dynamics at Penn State University and the University of Glasgow (Scotland, UK), with a field session based in Scotland.
The applicant must have a strong publication record, be highly motivated, have excellent skills in epidemiology and parasitology, and have dedication for research work both in the field and the laboratory. Experience in field work activity and stamina for undertaking field experiments are essential. Candidates with training in field ecological techniques, laboratory parasitological techniques, data analysis and modeling are encouraged to apply.
This position is available in March 2008 for 5 years; start date is negotiable. Salary is commensurate with experience. To apply please submit a CV, a one page letter explicitly describing professional qualifications for this position, up to two manuscripts, and three letters of recommendation by February 28, 2008 to Dr Isabella Cattadori (to whom inquiries about this position should also be addressed).

The applicant must have a strong publication record, be highly motivated, have excellent skills in molecular virology including construction of viral chimeras and cloning full length viral genomes, and have expertise conducting studies on viral gene expression and viral protein localization and interaction in vitro. Candidates with advanced training in cell biology or innate immunity in addition to molecular virology are encouraged to apply.
This position is available in January 2008 and start date is negotiable. Salary is commensurate with experience.
