Research interests
I am interested in using paratransgenesis, the genetic manipulation of insect symbiotic microorganisms, to control malaria. We are developing novel tools using Anopheles gambiae densoviruis to deliver effectors to prevent transmission of the parasite in mosquitoes. I am involved in the projects to develop AgDNV as a genetic tool to manipulate genomic DNA in mosquitoes. My general interests include host-pathogen and plant-insect interactions.
My current research focus include:
Densovirus based techniques to control malaria transmission
Site-specific genetic engineering of insect genome.
Insecticide resistance control using reverse genetics.
