Research interests

I study the ecology and evolution of infectious disease in animal and human populations, with emphasis on:

  • Disease emergence, invasion and persistence
  • How these are impacted by population heterogeneities

By combining field data with quantitative methods such as mathematical modelling and statistical analysis, I aim to:

  • Deepen our knowledge of fundamental principles of disease ecology
  • Apply those principles to understand observed patterns and design effective control policies.
